# Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to inclusive civic engagement

## Our Commitment

VoteR Connect is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We believe that civic engagement should be accessible to everyone, and we continually work to improve the accessibility and usability of our platform.

## Accessibility Standards

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. These guidelines help make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including:

-   Visual impairments (blindness, low vision, color blindness)
-   Hearing impairments
-   Motor impairments
-   Cognitive and learning disabilities

## Accessibility Features

Our platform includes the following accessibility features:

**Keyboard Navigation**

All interactive elements can be accessed using keyboard-only navigation.

**Screen Reader Compatibility**

Content is structured with semantic HTML and ARIA labels for screen reader users.

**Color Contrast**

Text and interface elements meet WCAG contrast ratio requirements.

**Resizable Text**

Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

**Focus Indicators**

Visible focus indicators help keyboard users track their position on the page.

**Alternative Text**

Images include descriptive alternative text for screen readers.

## Supported Assistive Technologies

Our platform is designed to work with:

-   Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
-   Screen magnification software
-   Speech recognition software
-   Keyboard-only navigation
-   Switch devices and alternative input methods

## Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:

-   Some third-party embedded content (e.g., external videos) may not be fully accessible
-   PDF documents linked from the site may not be fully accessible; we are working to remediate these
-   Some older content may not yet meet current accessibility standards

We are actively working to address these limitations and improve accessibility across all areas of our platform.

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of VoteR Connect. If you encounter any accessibility barriers or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us:

When reporting an issue, please include:

-   The URL of the page where you encountered the issue
-   A description of the problem
-   The assistive technology you were using (if applicable)
-   Your contact information so we can follow up

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 business days.

## Ongoing Efforts

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment. We regularly:

-   Conduct accessibility audits of our platform
-   Train our team on accessibility best practices
-   Include accessibility requirements in our development process
-   Test with real users who have disabilities
-   Monitor and address accessibility feedback
