How we collect, use, and protect your information

## Introduction

VoteR Connect ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform and services.

## Information We Collect

### Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

-   Name and email address
-   Phone number (optional)
-   Mailing address (optional, for voter-related services)
-   Areas of interest and communication preferences

### Community Content

When you participate in our community, we collect:

-   Posts, comments, and replies you create
-   Reports you submit about content
-   Your interactions with community features

### Donation Information

When you make a donation, we collect:

-   Name, address, email, and phone number
-   Occupation and employer (as required by federal election law for contributions over $200)
-   Donation amount and frequency

**Note:** Payment card details are processed securely by Stripe and are never stored on our servers. We only receive confirmation of successful transactions.

### Automatically Collected Information

-   Device and browser information
-   IP address and approximate location
-   Pages visited and features used
-   Date and time of visits

## How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

-   Provide and maintain our platform and services
-   Process donations and maintain legally required records
-   Send communications based on your preferences (newsletters, event reminders, updates)
-   Moderate community content and enforce our Terms of Service
-   Improve our platform and develop new features
-   Comply with legal obligations, including federal campaign finance reporting requirements

## Information Sharing

-   **Service Providers:** Third parties that help us operate our platform (e.g., Stripe for payment processing, Supabase for data storage and authentication)
-   **Legal Requirements:** Federal Election Commission (FEC) as required by campaign finance law
-   **Legal Process:** When required by law, subpoena, or court order

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Our platform uses the following third-party services:

-   **Community Content:** Until deleted by you or removed by moderators
-   **Log Data:** Typically retained for 90 days

You have the right to:

-   Access and download your personal data
-   Correct inaccurate information
-   Delete your account and associated data (except legally required records)
-   Opt out of marketing communications
-   Update your communication preferences at any time

## Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and regular security assessments. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

## Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
