If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Platform. ## Eligibility To use the Platform, you must: - Be at least 13 years of age - Be at least 18 years of age to make donations - Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to make donations (as required by federal law) - Provide accurate and complete registration information - Maintain the security of your account credentials ## Account Responsibilities You are responsible for: - Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials - All activities that occur under your account - Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized access - Ensuring your account information is accurate and up to date ## Community Conduct When participating in our community, you agree to: - Treat other users with respect and civility - Engage in good-faith discussions about civic issues - Respect differing viewpoints and political perspectives - Report content that violates these Terms ### Prohibited Content You may not post content that: - Contains harassment, threats, or hate speech - Spreads false information about candidates, elections, or voting procedures - Infringes on intellectual property rights - Contains spam, advertising, or commercial solicitations - Violates any applicable laws or regulations - Impersonates another person or entity - Contains malware, viruses, or malicious code - Encourages illegal activity or voter suppression ## Content Moderation We reserve the right to review, edit, or remove any content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable. Our moderation decisions are made to maintain a safe, constructive community environment. We may: - Remove or hide content without prior notice - Lock discussion threads - Issue warnings to users - Temporarily or permanently suspend accounts - Report illegal content to appropriate authorities ## Account Suspension and Termination We may suspend or terminate your account if you: - Violate these Terms of Service - Repeatedly post prohibited content - Engage in harassment or abuse of other users - Attempt to circumvent moderation or security measures - Use the Platform for fraudulent purposes You may deactivate your account at any time through your Account Settings. Deactivation does not delete donation records, which are retained as required by law. ## Donations By making a donation, you certify that: - You are a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident - This contribution is made from your own funds - You are at least 18 years old - You are not a federal contractor - The funds are not provided by another person or entity All donations are final and non-refundable except as required by law or at our sole discretion. Recurring donations may be cancelled at any time through your Account Settings or by contacting us. ## Communications Consent By creating an account or providing your contact information on VoteR Connect, you expressly consent to receive communications from us, including but not limited to: ### Email Communications You consent to receive emails regarding: - Account-related notifications (registration, password resets, security alerts) - Transactional messages (donation receipts, event confirmations, volunteer signups) - Platform updates and service announcements - Civic engagement opportunities, election reminders, and community updates - Group and group communications you have joined ### SMS/Text Message Communications **By providing your mobile phone number, you expressly consent to receive SMS/text messages from VoteR Connect.** These messages may include: - Time-sensitive alerts about elections and voting deadlines - Event reminders and volunteer opportunity notifications - Group and group communications - Account security and verification codes - Responses to your inquiries or support requests Important SMS Terms: - **Message Frequency:** Message frequency varies based on your activity and preferences. You may receive multiple messages per month. - **Message and Data Rates:** Standard message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details. - **Opt-Out:** You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any message or updating your communication preferences in your Account Settings. After opting out, you will receive a confirmation message and no further SMS messages unless you re-subscribe. - **Help:** Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us at support@voterconnect.org. - **Carriers:** Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. - **Consent Not Required:** Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of any purchase or use of the Platform. You may use VoteR Connect without providing SMS consent. ### Managing Your Communication Preferences You can manage your email and SMS preferences at any time through your Account Settings. You may also unsubscribe from marketing emails by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any email. Please note that even if you opt out of marketing communications, we may still send you transactional messages related to your account, donations, or other essential service communications. By continuing to use VoteR Connect after the effective date of these Terms, you acknowledge and agree to the communications practices described herein. We will obtain your explicit consent before sending SMS messages to any phone number you provide. ## Intellectual Property The Platform and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by VoteR Connect and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. By posting content to the Platform, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content in connection with the Platform. ## Disclaimer of Warranties THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. We do not endorse or verify the accuracy of user-generated content. Political information provided on the Platform is for educational purposes only. ## Limitation of Liability TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VOTER CONNECT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM. ## Governing Law These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States and the State of Virginia, without regard to conflict of law principles. ## Changes to Terms We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
