About
Robert McColley is a Republican politician currently serving as the President of the Ohio State Senate, where he represents District 1. He first joined the State Senate in December 2017 after serving in the Ohio House of Representatives for District 81 from 2015 to 2017. Throughout his legislative career, McColley has been involved in economic and workforce development efforts and has held leadership roles within the Senate GOP. In January 2026, he was selected by Vivek Ramaswamy to be his running mate for lieutenant governor in the 2026 Ohio gubernatorial election. A resident of Napoleon, Ohio, McColley is an attorney by profession. He earned his bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law. Prior to his career in the state legislature, he led economic development initiatives for Henry and Williams counties. He is married to his wife, Denise, and has been recognized for his work in securing capital budget funding for his district, which covers 11 counties in northwest Ohio.
